King Aegeus

He lived in Athens and he was the king there. He had a son called Theseus . King Aegeus married Aethra, who lived in Troezen.
When his son left Athens to go to Crete and kill the Minotaur there, he felt sad but he gave him a pair of white sails and asked him to put the white sails up when he came back, if he was alive.
When Theseus returned safe from Crete, he forgot to put up the white sails. Aegeus was waiting for him on Cape Sounio and when he saw the black sails, he thought his son Theseus was dead .He was so sad that he jumped into the water and drowned. To this day, this sea is called the Aegean Sea in honour of King Aegeus
I hope Theseus comes back safely and brings victory to Athens.
